About the Project

Names Not Numbers is a documentary storytelling initiative that humanizes people who colonial and occupying powers have reduced to statistics.

Rather than allowing them to remain faceless numbers in death tolls and displacement figures, this project gives them names, faces, and voices to tell their own stories.

Each edition focuses on a different community, produced in collaboration with local filmmakers and journalists on the ground. The first edition features Palestinian voices from Gaza. Future editions will amplify stories from First Nations Australians, South Africans, and other communities whose humanity has been systematically erased.
